Ultramarines The Movie The Shipping Quagmire The Update

I just received the following update from Codex Pictures regarding the delayed Ultramarines The Movie shipment.  This is not a direct answer to my inquiries but a generic e-mail sent to anyone who purchased the Collector's Edition.

Dear Sean

RE Order #########

As we advised yesterday, due to a production issue outside our control, we were not able to start shipping the complete Ultramarines DVD collector’s set on November 29th 2010 as planned.

We have teams in the UK, US and Europe working around the clock to resolve the issue.

At this time, we are hoping that orders can start to ship next week. In the meantime, we will keep you informed as soon as we receive more information.

Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for this delay to you receiving your Ultramarines DVD.

Sincerely,

Codex Pictures
Currently the Exterminatus Order has been written, but the Inquisition has not signed off on it...yet...

Happy Ultramarines the Movie Release D'Oh

If you were like me and looking forward to the release of The Ultramarines Movie Collector's Edition, well your wait isn't over.

Codex announced today they had an "unanticipated production problem" that has delayed the release of the collector's set, with no anticipated release date announced.

I'll post more as it becomes available, but honestly this doesn't totally kill me because I was informed by my wife that this was going to be a Christmas present and I was going to have to covertly watch the movie before she wrapped it....actually now that I think about it, this will shrink that window from when we get the package to when it's wrapped, and it does affect me.  Dammit.

40K Neophyte Review - Death Angel

I have talked often about how challenging it can be to game on a budget.  I have a limited well of money to dip from, and a wide array of interests I could easily spend that money on.  Oh sure occasionally a new computer game will win out over a new unit for 40K, but I have stayed on task with 40K as best I can.  However one area I have not gotten into yet are the Fantasy Flight Games that take the trappings of 40K (and other franchises) and apply them to role playing, board, and card games.  Partly because of the cost, partly because I don't have anybody else to play with, and partly because while they look cool I wasn't sure if they were worth the investment.

Well let me just say that if the other games are as fun as Death Angel, then damn my tiny wallet.

40K Retro - Dawn of War

When Dawn of War II: Chaos Rising came out earlier this year I voraciously played through the campaign avoiding corruption, with the intent of replaying Dawn of War II to create another character to play in Chaos Rising as corrupt as possible.  Then I decided to play through all the Dawn of War campaigns.  And then I got sidetracked by other games.  Seriously, if I had an unlimited budget I’d have gaming ADHD.  I’m not making light of ADHD, I’m just saying that if I could play any game I wanted to and money was no object, I’d waste away in front of my computer.  For the sake of the games I love it’s a good thing I have that limited budget so I can spend the time playing them that they deserve.  So then I decided that since I was playing through all the campaigns I was going to review each single player campaign looking at how they are in context to when they came out, how they stack up to the other Dawn of War games, and how well they have aged.  All leading up to the release of Retribution in March of next year.

And Another New Ultramarines Clip

Unlike my earlier post, this clip actually looked pretty damn good.  But there was less walking, and more vile corruption...heh heh.  Thanks to SFX for this clip.

40K Neotube - 11/18/10 Pre-Holiday Special

With Thanksgiving next weekend I will not be posting a 40K Neotube.  I have something lined up for early in the week, but beyond that I'm going to be busy getting ready for our first hosted Thanksgiving.

So to sate the masses...all 5 of you...let me post this new clip from the upcoming Ultramarines Movie that apparently hit the net yesterday.  You can see the clip after the jump, or check it out and some screen caps over at HeyUGuys.uk.

I'm not going to lie, it doesn't really show much, except some apparently unnatural looking walking by the Ultramarines.  I really hope the animation is worthy of what 40K deserves, and most of it looked good, but the walking didn't impress me.

40K Neotube - 11/18/10

40K Neotube is late this week, so sue me.

I went with this retro video of the first Dawn of War animated intro because not only do I like it, but it also works with my article that's publishing at noon today.

Watch the video now.

Come back at noon and read my article.

Have a great weekend.

Belated Free eBook Friday Update

With my issues last week, I also never posted that the latest free eBook from Black Library was posted.  The most recent release was another Warhammer Fantasy book, Honour of the Grave by Robin D. Laws.

You can find that download and all the other free stuff here.

40K Neotube - 11/10/10

First let me apologize for the void that was last week's updates.  Several different real life issues crashed in on me in the middle of the week.  I had work issues, our area lost all telco based data and phone communication, my step-son left for the air force, and my wife was an emotional basket case because of it.

So to make up for it, I found a series of 3 movies that feature some of the bloodiest and best finishing moves from Dawn of War II.  I've gotten back into DoWII and Chaos Rising because some buddies picked it up recently when Steam offered the Gold Edition on sale.  I would have posted about it but I had no idea it was even happening.

After the jump watch a bunch of Xenos, Space Marines and Chaos Marines die bloody deaths...
